Forskningsingenjör med inriktning på testning och kalibrering av rymdinstrument (dnr: 2.2.1-269/18) Ansök senast: 25 juni

Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) in Kiruna is looking for a

Research engineer specialized in testing and calibration of space instruments

IRF is currently expanding SpaceLab: the development, testing and calibration facilities located at the Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) in Kiruna. The aim of SpaceLab is to create a unique environment that supports balloon, rocket and satellite payloads in any development stage. SpaceLab is utilized both by groups from IRF and by external customers, and we plan to invest in improved support facilities in the near future.

Your task will be to write specifications for new test equipment, establish requirements for the architect team, and prepare cost estimates for different developments. The job also includes representational tasks, such as holding presentations about space hardware development and testing.

The position also includes some teaching duties at university level.

Qualifications:
Master of Science degree in engineering, preferably with a specialization in space technology.

Experience in space hardware testing and calibration is highly valued. Because of the extensive international contacts, it is important that you can speak and write in English.

As the project starts during the holiday season, it requires high independence and sufficient initiative to solve problems in many technical fields, with limited guidance. An ability to collaborate within the group as well as with external parties is a requirement, together with good presentational skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

This is a temporary position for five months, divided into two periods and starting in July 2018. It is situated at the IRF headquarters in Kiruna.
