Transit of Venus 2012

Images produced during a public outreach project of Institutet för rymdfysik and Rymdgymnasiet, both in Kiruna. Observations during the transit were made on top of Luossavaara in Kiruna.

Weather clears up, the Sun moves below a cloud bank and the full disk gets visible.

A live stream from the top of Luossavaara. The image is recorded from a projection screen mounted behind a Galileoscope.

Weather: Cloudy again with a partially clear part at the northern horizon. Rain is still far away.

Weather: Clearing up, but Sun still hidden by clouds. Weather radar shows rain ca. 200km east of Kiruna, but this will hopefully pass south of here.

Weather: Rain earlier today, still quite a lot of clouds (maybe 7/8 coverage), but fast changing and some clear patches at the north horizon.
