Plotting Menu: Usage. |
-
Available plotting times
Available plotting times are offered for each sensor. The times under ESP1c
show the available times when 1 keV corrected data can be displayed.
This correction is available for all ESP1, mode 1 data.
-
Calculate day of year
Since the Start Time for the plotting period must be given in day of
the year, this option is included to convert any year, month and day
into year and day of year.
-
Plotting the data
To prevent the user from having to retype the same information, only starting time
and duration time of the plotting period can be chosen.
- START TIME. The format is yyyy-ddd/hh:mm:ss. (yyyy = four digit
year, ddd = day of the year using three digits, hh = two digit hour, mm = two digit minute, ss = two digit second).Check into available plotting times to
see what times are available for the data.
- DURATION TIME. The format is h:mm:ss. (h = one digit hour
between 0-3, mm = two digit minute, ss = two digit second).
It is not allowed to have more than a 3-hour duration time.
- PLOTTING CHOICE.
A layout for the plot can be chosen or else a default layout will
be used. Once a layout is activated, it will be the choice for
future plots, until changed again.
Layout choices can be viewed on example plots by clicking on:
View PLOTTING CHOICES.
- PLOT button. Everytime the user clicks on it, a plot will be generated
and displayed. The looks of the plot are based on the user's
choice of starting time, duration time, plotting choice, and plot size.
-
Optional features
A chosen feature will be in effect once the PLOT button is pressed.
If a feature is changed, but only the Next/Previous buttons are used, then
the newly activated feature is not in effect.
- View PLOTTING CHOICES. A page will come up that shows all
example layouts that are selectable when 'Plotting the data'.
Clicking on an example plot will expand the example to its full size.
- PLOT SIZE. One of several plot sizes can be selected.
Once activated the chosen plot size will stay active for future plots,
until changed again.
Note: It takes less time to create smaller plots than larger
ones.
- PLOTTING WINDOW FEATURE. If the user choses multi-window, then
a new window will pop up automatically every time the PLOT button is
pressed. Multi-window is not available when using Previous/Next switches.
When using Previous/Next, the plots will always appear in the same window
as from where the request was made.
The default is to use the same window for every newly generated plot,
but the user can switch as desired between multi- and single-window.
When 'single-window' is active, then the plots will always be displayed in
the same first window.
- Orbit option. The user must turn this option on to use it. Then he can
type the desired orbit number, choose other parameters like plot size,
layout choice and press the PLOT button.
The data for the beginning of the selected orbit will be displayed for the
time that is in the 'Duration time' field. The user can then use the Next/Previous buttons to go further into the orbit.
Note:The orbit option must be turned off, if the user wishes to go
back to use the Start and Duration time as parameters for plot generation.
-
Buttons on the plot page.
These buttons can be found above the plot that was requested
from the Plotting Menu.
- Close. When this button is pressed, then the window that contains
the 'Close' button is closed.
- Postscript. When this button is pressed, a Postscript file can be
downloaded. The 'Save As' box will pop up, unless the user has
configured his Web server to some other default action.
- Display plot only. If this button is pressed, then only the plot
will be displayed. This allows the user
to print the plot from the browser menu. No buttons are printed.
- Previous/Next. When the 'Next' button is clicked,
then the next plotting period
with the indicated duration time will be drawn.
When the 'Previous' button is clicked, then the previous plotting period
with the indicated duration time will be drawn.
The window where the plots will be drawn will always be the same
window as from where the request was made. This is not influenced by
the multi/single-window feature.
The options like plot size or layout choice can not be changed between clicking
the 'Next' or 'Previous' buttons. Those can only be changed when the PLOT button
in the Plotting Menu is pressed.
Also, if one goes back to the Plotting Menu and presses PLOT again,
then the plot as indicated in the Start Time field
will be drawn again, no matter how often the 'Next' or 'Previous' options
were previously used.
