Ulysses, a unique heliospheric mission to study the 3-D heliospheric view for the first time, passes the solar poles (80° heliospheric latitude) during the solar minimum (1995-1996) and solar maximum (2000-2001). EPAC (energetic particle composition) instrument is composed of four identical telescopes, each of which measures electrons (several hundred keV) and various ions (MeV) using solid-state detector.

Period of operation: October, 1990 -
Orbit: Heliospheric
IRF instrument: EPAC, Energetic Particle Composition (PI: Dr. E. Keppler Max-Planck-Inst., Germany)
