The entrance optics of the NIWA UV-visible spectrometer seen through its dome on the roof of the optical laboratory. The instrument is a scanning spectrometer with photomultiplier detector (complementary Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change (NDACC) instrument). From the spectra column, densities of ozone, BrO, NO2 etc. can be retrieved.
